What is Evidence-Based Clinical Hypnotherapy?
Clinical hypnotherapy is a focused, evidence-based approach that uses guided relaxation and therapeutic suggestions to support psychological and physiological healing. It is recognized by the American Psychological Association (APA) as an evidence-based treatment. Research supports its effectiveness for a range of concerns including:
What To Expect
Clinical hypnosis involves three phases: induction, therapeutic intervention, and reorientation. Induction involves guiding the client into a relaxed “trance” state-- typically using techniques like guided imagery and focused breathing. In the therapeutic intervention phase, the clinician will introduce the therapeutic messaging specifically tailored to your unique treatment needs. In the therapeutic intervention phase, the clinician offers personalized therapeutic suggestions aligned with your goals. This is not entertainment hypnosis—No clucking like a chicken or feats of strength! You remain in control the entire time and are able to enter or exit trance at will. By accessing a relaxed but alert brain state, hypnotherapy helps the subconscious mind tap into the imagination’s natural power— Much like mentally rehearsing for a big interview or envisioning success in a championship game. Finally, during reorientation, you will return to full awareness. Most clients recall what was said during trance and describe the experience as deeply calming.
Adjunctive Care
At our clinic, clinical hypnotherapy is offered solely as an adjunctive service—clients must already be working with a primary mental health provider or physician. We believe hypnotherapy is most effective when embedded within a comprehensive treatment plan, and we coordinate care closely with referring providers to ensure safety and continuity.
Our clinicians follow the best practice standards set by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), ensuring all interventions are evidence-based, ethically sound, and clinically appropriate.
